FileMaker Go apps on iPhone and iPad

Go allows you to use an application prepared in Pro on iPhone and iPad. Example tasks include scanning a code, recording a photo, signature or visit result. The possibilities must be checked on a specific device and in the application version used.

The touchscreen layout should limit typing and only show the actions you need. Reading the code can speed up identification, but requires a correct file and handling of unknown markings.

• Measurements and controls: results, documentation and workplace report.

Host connection vs. local offline copy

When connected to a Server or Cloud database, the team works on shared data. Go can also open a file saved locally. Changes to such a copy do not automatically update the original database.

If work without the Internet is required, the project covers the scope of data on the device, its protection, identification of records, sending changes and resolving conflicts. Simply copying a file does not create a synchronization mechanism.

Preparing for mobile implementation

We check places of use, network quality, devices, scanners and login method. The test includes loss of connectivity, re-transmission and working with incomplete data. Go is not a native Android app; for other devices we consider WebDirect or a separate web interface.

Collect data without rewriting later

The form can combine selection from the list, code reading, photo and signature saved in a container field. You can also attach available multimedia files to the application. We select the specific method of entering data depending on the device and operating conditions.

The employee can search and sort records, view a summary or prepare a report. AirPrint printing requires a compatible printer and connection. We check the method of sending the document and the availability of operations in the target Go version.

You create in Pro, you use in Go

We prepare application layouts and logic in FileMaker Pro. Instead of making the office screen smaller, we simplify the task: fewer fields at once, clear buttons, sensible order and confirmation of the completion of the operation.

Before deployment, we check the entire scenario on the target iPhone or iPad: login, screen rotation, keyboard, camera, network loss and write retry. Users receive an agreed access method and work instructions.

FileMaker Go can be downloaded from the App Store on your compatible iPhone or iPad. Before installation, check device requirements and host compatibility. Downloading the Go client is not a substitute for establishing a license to use the hosted solution.
