Claris FileMaker products. Choose the right combination.

Pro, Server, Go, WebDirect, and Cloud product roles

The application is designed in Pro. The team can use it via Pro, Go or WebDirect, and the database is shared by Server or Cloud. We start the selection with users and processes, and only then we determine the set of products.

Pro Advanced is a historic name. Modern Pro has advanced tools; previous comparisons of both editions do not describe the current division of the offer.

In the current FileMaker Pro, the development tools belong to the same product. The former division into Pro and Pro Advanced is not the basis for today's license comparison.

Licenses: People and usage matter

To talk about licensing, we need the number of actual users, access methods, environments and integration needs. The number of devices or simultaneous logins should not be treated as a universal basis for pricing.

We confirm the scope of the package, add-ons, limits and entitlements in the current Claris terms and conditions. Downloading the Go app doesn't mean you can use every hosted solution for free. A developer subscription is for development and testing, not a replacement for a production license.

The set results from how the team works

For independent work with a local database, Pro is the starting point. An office team usually needs a host and access through Pro or WebDirect. Field workers can use Go with screens designed for touch.

When the data is to be accessed by an external client, we determine the tasks, number of users and identity model. The choice between WebDirect and a separate portal also depends on the licensing method and the required interface freedom.

• Local work: Pro, with backups of the database file and container data.
• Working together: Server or Cloud, accounts and compatible clients.
• Terrain: Go and stable connection or offline synchronization designed.
• External services: prepared API and separate scope of permissions.

Automation and AI as part of the solution

Claris Connect is used to connect applications and services into flows. Connector availability, the number of active flows and the scope of the plan are elements to check when purchasing. The connection still requires accounts, data mapping, and error handling.

FileMaker's AI features can support searching and working with documents. They need a selected model, access to data and quality tests. The presence of functions in the platform does not mean ready automation or covering the costs of every external service.

Check one task before deciding to implement

In an existing environment, we first compare the Pro, Go and host versions, operating systems and plug-ins used. Pro Advanced is the former name of the product; advanced tools are in the current Pro. We select licenses and updates for the entire environment.
